A 501c3 Non-Profit Charity Serving Metro Phoenix and the East Valley

Equine-Assisted Bereavement (EAB)

Hoofbeats with Heart in collaboration with New Song Center for Grieving Children, a program of Hospice of the Valley, has pioneered the “Unbridled Hearts” program serving families with children ages 5-17 and young adults working through the grieving process.

“Unbridled Hearts” uses a family or team-based approach and applies Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy and Equine-Assisted Learning to help family members learn to identify and understand changes in roles and responsibilities, re-establish and strengthen family ties, and realize it is OK to smile and have fun after the death of a loved one.

The bereavement program uses activities and exercises that hold meaning for participants. The back of a horse carries our fragile grief, memories, feelings and fears.
