Meet our Herd!
Meet our incredible herd of equine therapy horses, each carefully selected for their gentle temperament, unique abilities, and deep connection with people. Our therapy horses have undergone extensive training to prepare them for working in equine assisted therapy, providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals dealing with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and anger management. Our hippotherapy horses are calm, gentle, and love their work supporting clients with disabilities such as cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, or Autism through hippotherapy. We have a trail on property with exercises set up for clients to navigate via horseback supported by a trained team and a horse to accomplish goals with their physical therapy.
Whether you’re seeking healing, personal growth, or stress relief, our compassionate equine partners are here to guide you on your journey to wellness. Experience the healing power of our equine therapy horses today- CONTACT US.
We have horses that participate in equine assisted therapy or hippotherapy, as well as a few others on our farm!
In addition to our therapy horses, our farm is home to a variety of other friendly animals, including a zebra! We have donkeys, miniature horses, goats, cows, and a camel! Each animal plays a unique role in creating a peaceful, welcoming environment for our visitors. Interacting with these animals can offer additional therapeutic benefits, from stress relief to fostering emotional connections. Whether you’re feeding the chickens, petting the goats, or simply enjoying their presence, these animals contribute to the overall sense of calm and connection that our farm provides.
WHIMSEY: Whimsey is a 17-year-old warmblood trained in dressage. Her career was cut short due to an injury, and she is now one of our awesome four-legged therapists, used both for hippotherapy where she’s ridden for kids doing their physical and occupational therapy on a horse, and we are planning to introduce her into our ground-based therapy program where the horses are used as therapy partners and are not ridden.
2. GRACE: Grace is a 20-year-old small horse, trained as a hunter/jumper in her former career as a show horse. When her show career ended, her owner kindly donated her to Hoofbeats, and she is one of our beloved therapy and lesson horses.
3. LEO: Leo is a beautiful palomino 13-year-old warmblood gelding with a big personality, who is now retired from horse shows and we are beginning to include him in our ground-based therapy program.
4. SHAMMY: Shammy is a 22-year-old pinto who is a favorite of the kids and therapists alike. She is used both in our hippotherapy program and in our equine-assisted psychotherapy ground therapy program.
5. JET: Jet is a 20-year-old quarter horse gelding who is retired from reining and who now has a career as a hippotherapy horse (he is in great demand by the kids), and we also use him in our equine-assisted psychotherapy therapy program.
6. MO: Mo is a 14-year-old warmblood buckskin gelding who was injured early in his career as a show horse and became unable to compete over jumps, and he is now a treasured part of our equine therapy team who loves to clown around for the clients. Everyone is his friend.
7. MAGGIE: Maggie is a 19-year-old warmblood mare who has had a long, successful career as a show horse and due to an injury to be a mama. After delivering a beautiful daughter, she is now a part of our therapy team, along with her team of mini horses.
8. DAISY: Daisy is a 25-year-old warmblood who has had a long, successful career as a show horse and retired to be a successful broodmare, and a therapy horse specializing in hippotherapy, lessons and ground-based psychotherapy.
9. PATCHES: Patches is a 17-year-old “medicine hat” paint gelding who has what the Native American culture believes is special powers – that due to his extraordinary markings, whoever rides him is protected in battle. At Hoofbeats, he is extraordinarily popular with the kids and the therapists due to his training and extra sensitivity to his rider and the clients he works with.
10. BERT: Bert is a 27-year-old gelding who is a retired trail horse. He is used for hippotherapy and equine-assisted psychotherapy. He joined our team last year and was immediately welcomed by the kids.
